Daniel Barbare – At the Market

At the Market

At the market one
     more day
Carnations, sampling
     almond coffee
A bottle of wine
     called 1000
Strawberries and
     pineapple, orchids

We don’t have that
     much money
But we’re high on
A pocket full of
And that is a whole
     lot of dark
     amber maple syrup
And pecan halves.

Danny P. Barbare resides in the Upstate of the Carolinas. His poetry appears locally, nationally, and abroad.  He works as a janitor at a local YMCA.
